My story
I’m Gemma, the founder and creative heart behind Polly Pickle, a wedding stationery design studio I launched in 2016 after a lifelong dream of running my own creative business.
The journey to Polly Pickle
My journey began in the world of editorial design, starting at ELLE Magazine before moving into national bridal magazines, where I rose to Senior Designer and first fell in love with the bridal industry. From there, I stepped into the corporate world, taking on roles as a Creative & Design Manager and Project Manager — positions that challenged me, inspired me, and ultimately shaped the way I work today.
Looking back, every chapter gave me the skills, insight, and confidence to build Polly Pickle into what it is now: a place where thoughtful design, personal stories, and meaningful details come together to create beautiful wedding stationery that couples truly cherish.
A little more about me
At home, life is beautifully chaotic in the best possible way. I live in the picturesque county of Suffolk, in the historic riverside town of Woodbridge — a place I feel genuinely lucky to call home. The rural landscape that surrounds us inspires me daily and often finds its way into my designs.
I share life with my husband, Jef, our three children, and our sweet miniature dachshund, Otis. After 12 years of marriage, I still feel incredibly grateful to be married to my best friend. Being such a big believer in love probably helps when your job is all about celebrating it!
Creativity has always been at the centre of who I am. If I’m not designing for work, I’m creating simply for joy. I also have a slightly expensive obsession with interiors — beautiful, considered spaces fuel my imagination and have a huge influence on my work.
Supporting independent and local businesses is incredibly important to me. The creative community means so much, and I’m proud to champion and collaborate with fellow makers and small businesses whenever I can.
I’m truly proud of everything I’ve built with Polly Pickle and am deeply grateful for every couple who has trusted me with their wedding stationery. Their support helps me provide for my young family, and I never take that for granted.
